PE

Intent:

We will ensure we are covering skills and concepts from the National Curriculum. We aim to develop their PE skills through a variety of sports. We will ensure children have the opportunity to use and develop these skills throughout the lessons.

Implementation:

We will structure lessons so that prior learning and revision of key skills are continuously built upon.

We will ensure key skills and techniques are introduced and used with lessons.

Impact:

We want children to develop a love of Sport and competitions.

We will measure the impact of learning through assessing their development of key skills.

We offer a wide range of sporting activities to all our pupils and we make the most of our excellent facilities such as our colourful playground, expanse of playing fields; including football pitch, MUGA; officially opened by our past pupil, Falcons Rugby Player, Tom Penny, wealth of play and fitness equipment and Daily Mile running track which was opened by Olympian Laura Weightman after the children wrote to her.

Since we managed to return to more face to face competitions our commitment was rewarded with being awarded the School Games Gold Award in July 2022 followed by July 2023 and we have just received accreditation of Gold Award in June 2024. We will spend the next year demonstrating our achievements to enable us to hopefully be awarded the highest level of award, Platinum.
We offer swimming to our KS 2 pupils in the Summer Term.
In 2022
2 children were disapplied from swimming and therefore are not included in these figures.
91% were able to swim at least the 25m required at the end of KS2.
In 2023
100% of children were able to swim at least the 25m required at the end of KS2.
In 2024 already in June we can proudly say that for a second year running 100% of our Y6 pupils will be able to swim at least the 25 metres required at the end of KS2.
Summer 2024 -
We are currently developing our current PE provision using our own planning and enhancing the progression of skills and assessment elements by using Get Set 4 PE. We  plan on a 2 year cycle as we have mixed age groups. Our new plans will come into place in September 2024.
Each year we also carefully allocate our Sports Premium money each year and review this spend with governors annually. This can be found in the Important Information section of our website.
September 2024
We have started the school year off with a range of competitions. We also hosted a mini tournament against other schools. We used our new 5 a side goals purchased with our Primary Sports Funding Budget.
Euros 2024 -
To commemorate the England football team playing in the Euro's today and also to celebrate our 4th year running of the School Games Gold Standard the children enjoyed dressing up in their sporty clothes and keeping fit. The younger children are picture here doing the Daily Mile and the children in KS 2 took part in an intra school football competition.

Our Year 5 and 6 year groups got through to the County Finals for Multiskills
We are very proud of the teaching of PE at our school. Recently our gymnastics team entered a local gymnastics competition and 2 of our pupils qualified for County Finals. The girls performed at the highest level, amongst only 8 finalists in the region for their stage! Both girls were placed highly commended and displayed our 3R's (Respect, Resilience and Responsibility) throughout the morning.
