PE

Intent:

We will ensure we are covering skills and concepts from the National Curriculum. We aim to develop their PE skills through a variety of sports. We will ensure children have the opportunity to use and develop these skills throughout the lessons.

Implementation:

We will structure lessons so that prior learning and revision of key skills are continuously built upon.

We will ensure key skills and techniques are introduced and used with lessons.

Impact:

We want children to develop a love of Sport and competitions.

We will measure the impact of learning through assessing their development of key skills.

We offer a wide range of sporting activities to all our pupils and we make the most of our excellent facilities such as our colourful playground, expanse of playing fields; including football pitch, MUGA; officially opened by our past pupil, Falcons Rugby Player, Tom Penny, wealth of play and fitness equipment and Daily Mile running track which was opened by Olympian Laura Weightman after the children wrote to her.

Since we managed to return to more face to face competitions our commitment was rewarded with being awarded the School Games Gold Award in July 2022.
Our Year 5 and 6 year groups got through to the County Finals for Multiskills
We offer swimming to our KS 2 pupils in the Summer Term.
2 children were disapplied from swimming and therefore are not included in these figures.
91% were able to swim at least the 25m required at the end of KS2.
We are very proud of the teaching of PE at our school. Recently our gymnastics team entered a local gymnastics competition and 2 of our pupils qualified for County Finals. The girls performed at the highest level, amongst only 8 finalists in the region for their stage! Both girls were placed highly commended and displayed our 3R's (Respect, Resilience and Responsibility) throughout the morning.
