Early Years 2022-23

During the Autumn term Early Years have had great fun during their forest school sessions. They have enjoyed exploring the area, finding lots of bugs and worms! As well as playing with their friends and learning new skills. One thing for sure once we are wrapped up we have no qaulms about getting messy!

We started by looking at Seasonal changes and made clay leaf decorations by imprinting the patterns into clay. We have collected conkers and used them to make our very Stick men, this linked in nicely with our Stick man story adventure. We then also shared The Leaf Man story and made our own Leaf Man too! As part of a school enterprise project to make an item to sell at oir Christmas PTA coffee morning we also created some Leaf jar tealight holders. We have also had great fun making natural paint brushes and painting with them.
We don't let the cold weather stop us from getting togged up in our puddle suits and making the most of our wonderful outdoor area. It was cold (minus 3 in the night) but we made the most of the opportunity to investigate the forest school area in different weather conditions. We noticed lots of differences and changes. We found lots of ice and we soon worked out if we broke it up we could get it from where it was stuck. We really enjoyed making footprints in the frosty grass. We talked about how ice is a solid and it is water and how when it melts it turns back to a liquid that is water. Lots of science and maths as we looked at changes and shapes that we found - circles and semi circles!
We also had fun using left over sticks from making our stick men and jingle bells to make our own colourful jingle sticks!
After the snow had been we had great fun, again it looked so different! We experimented painting in the snow, making faces, snowmen and making bird feeders to hang on the trees. We will keep an eye to see if the birds like our feeders.
