September 2024
Science
This week in science we identified that sounds are made when an object vibrates. In these photographs we are watching how sound waves travel through the air and cause the rice grains to bounce.
Science
Today we made hydrophones to help us to understand that sound travels through a liquid in this case water.
Many children from Year 3 and 4 are having a fantastic time at our residential! Take a look at some of our photos here. Many more are in our main school photo gallery in the September section.
Science open afternoon in Class 2
What we have been learning in class 2 during Autumn 1.
Today Class 2 visited St Bartholomew’s Church to look at the WW1 memorial window and the War Grave in the churchyard. When we were there we also found a dedication stone to say thank you to a local family for taking in evacuees during WW2. On our way back to school we noted that the Memorial Hall was built just after WW1. We used our knowledge of Roman numerals to work out that it was completed in 1924.
Wearing wellies in school showing support to our wonderful farmers!
Autumn 2
D.T
We have been learning about conductors and insulators and disassembling a torch to discover how it works. Next we will be designing and making our own torches.

February PE - yoga
We have very much enjoyed yoga this half term and learning to create a flow with our poses while using breath work.
World Book Day
We came to school today dressed as our favourite book characters. We enjoyed making story sacks for KS1 and Early Years, then we tried to guess who was behind the mask in a ‘Masked Reader’ challenge. In the afternoon we competed in an ultimate character champion battle before heading to the yurt for storytelling.

Spring 1
What we have been learning this half term.
we have been learning about coal mining and the work of the Pitman painters has inspired our art work. We have also been learning about rocks in our science lessons. We have been on a geology walk on Bamburgh beach, you can see pictures of our day as geologists below.
We enjoyed creating our Mothers Day Cards using an eco-printing natural dye that involves transferring colour pigments from plant materials onto fabric using a hammer technique.
Autism Acceptance Day
We celebrated ACD and raised awareness by promoting acceptance, highlighted the unique qualities and diverse perspectives of autism spectrum disorder by creating beautiful colourful art work.
