Class One (Year 1 and 2) 2025-2026

Welcome to Class One! We are a mixed year 1 and year 2 class and are taught by Miss Lazenby. Mrs Chisholm covers PPA time on Wednesday afternoons.
Pop UK Project

We have had a fantastic first day back in school today. We have been very lucky to have started our Pop UK project with Rachel where we are learning some songs to record and perform. Class One and Early Years were brilliant at learning the chorus of the songs and the actions to match. We are very excited to even sing some songs in Spanish.
Maths - Autumn 1

We have made a very strong start to our learning in Maths this half term. We are building our knowledge of place value and using numbers up to 10, 20 and even 100. Throughout some of our lessons, we have been using the practical resources to help us embed and understand different concepts.
RE - The Lost Son

We have started our Autumn 1 topic of 'What do Christians believe God is like?' To help us, we have started by looking at the parable The Lost Son, and have been able to think about what the hidden meaning of this story is. In small groups we sequenced the story and then acted the story out for the rest of the class.
Maths - Autumn 1

In Maths this half term we have been expanding our knowledge of place value and addition and subtraction. We have used a mix of practical lessons to help us consolidate concepts whilst using bigger numbers.
Art - Autumn 1

In Art this half term, we have been developing our understanding of drawing materials, texture and tonal shading. We used the Early years outdoor area to think about the different textures that different objects have and used chalks and pastels to create some texture rubbings.
Daily Mile

In Class One, we love to complete the daily mile. We use our fantastic track to complete at least 3 laps in the afternoon to help us with a learning break. Some of us are super speedy and finish these laps as quick as a flash!
Police Visit

This week in PSHE, we had the local PCSO come and talk to us about seat belt safety and why it is important to be wearing our seat belts when travelling. He talked to us about where the seat belt should sit on our body and about the use of car seats. He showed us a fabulous video about Northumbria police and measured us to see if we should be in a car seat or able to to a seat belt with booster seat.
