New School Year September 2021.
We very much hope our families all remain safe and well but we also appreciate that there may continue to be time off school due to COVID 19 and we wish to continue to support families at home who may be unable to attend school. Each class has created a pack of work for the children to access if they are well enough and is available in the class page of this section ( Home School Learning). Teachers are also available for support or queries via Tapestry or Class Dojo or via a phone call before and after school.
As of 25th January 2021. Schools are expected to have their remote learning offer on the school website by 25th January. We are pleased to say that our offer has been in place since September 14th 2020.
Children who were isolating during the Autumn Term were directed to the 14 day quarantine pack and also their Maths and English CGP packs which they have at home.
Children who were off due to a bubble closure during the Autumn Term were provided a timetable and work work to follow on their Home Learning Class Home Learning Page. Our timetable follows the structure of the school day, meaning that while working at home children are expected to follow very similar hours to those that they would follow at school.
During 'Lockdown' and heightened restrictions during January 2021 each class has work set for them each day alongside a daily message from the class teacher. Communication is kept open through Tapestry for EY and Class Dojo for Years 1-6, telephone calls and Google Meetings. The work set on the class page is very similar to what would have been taught if the children had all experienced face to face learning.
The children learning in school follow the same timetable and work content as closely as possible as those children learning at home.
As I mentioned briefly in my Headteachers Blog on Friday 11th September by the end of September the DFE require schools to provide families with access to education if their child is not physically able to be in school.
Staff are working hard to make some final tweaks to our provision, and we are also looking to provide paper-based work or activity books early next week which will be sent home with your children.
Miss Dick, Our phonics lead has developed a section of our school website for Read, Write Inc; the Phonics Programme we use - Please make sure you take a look at it as there are some really helpful resources to help you support your child with their phonics whilst learning at home - Copy this link into your browser https://whittingham.eschools.co.uk/website/read_write_inc_phonics_/523580 to be directed to this page.
During Summer Term 2020. Staff updated the whole school curriculum. We are proud of the changes made and believe that it is a vibrant curriculum that should inspire our children. Please see link below for further information.
