Home School Learning Offer for Class 3 ( Year 5 and 6) updated February 2022

Hello everyone and welcome to Class 3's home learning webpage. Here, you will find resources to support home learning should your child need to be away from school for a legitimate reason (e.g. isolation due to positive case of Covid-19, etc).

As ever, I - and the whole staff team - are here to support you so should you need anything further or have a query, please just ask via our Class Dojo, school email or contacting the office.

All the very best,
Mr Charlton
Home Learning Spring 2 2022

While we appreciate that there are no class bubble closures if a child is off due to COVID we do ask that children remain at home until Day 6 ( after a negative test on Day 5 and Day 6).

As children may need to be off at different times please follow the instructions below:

Maths - Please complete 2 pages of your CGP maths books per day.
In addition to this please access Sumdog for Maths, Spelling and Grammar.

English and cross curricular links - Please see CLPE Home Learning pack below based on a book called 'Town is by the Sea'. There is also a You Tube Clip of the book: (https://youtu.be/mj8ROh5n5OA - front cover reveal) read to you:https://youtu.be/Z9TZvLvjYlc

I will endeavour to send further specific home learning activities regarding our topics via a message on Class Dojo

Good morning everyone,
I hope everyone is safe and sound and keeping well, particularly after the weekend's weather. With school not being open today, I am keen to send you some tasks/ activities that the children can do. I am also conscious that not everyone in the class will necessary have access to a device/ the internet/ power or have other circumstances that mean they can't necessarily access the tasks to the same degree. As such, I'm not setting anything new today so that we're all learning from the same point when school reopens.
If your child is able to, they can do the following tasks:
- Maths Flex: complete several 'nuggets' that have been set.
- Reading: do at least 30 minutes of reading at some point within the day.
- Practice the 12 times-tables (times-tables bingo or such games can be a good way to practice).
- Spellings: try and think of and find as many words that have the suffix '-ible' or '-ibly'.
- English: following on from our last English session, what emotive words can you think of to describe a tiger? (Remember that we can think of a word and then expand our word bank further by finding synonyms of each word that we think of.)
- Art: following on from our recent work on creating depth within sketches, can you create your own mountainous and/ or earthquake scene?

As ever, I'll be available as much as possible during the day if anyone has any queries.

Please note, for anyone needing to do home learning during the rest of the week for reasons such as isolating etc, the home learning resources and info for this week will be uploaded on Monday evening.

Many thanks,
Mr Charlton

Good morning everyone,
For today's suggested tasks, the children can do the following:
- Reading: at least 30mins of reading at some point over the day.
- Spellings: continue to think of and find words that have the suffix '-ible' or '-ibly'.
- Times-tables: continue to practice the x12s.
- Maths: access Maths Flex to complete 'nuggets'. Alternatively - if your internet access isn't great at the moment - they could practice their multiplication and division methods by creating a list of 3 or 4 digit numbers and then multiply and/ or divide each of them by 12.
- English: use the attached sheet to create varied, persuasive sentences about endangered tigers.
- PE: can you design a fitness circuit for yourself? Can you improve your performance each time that you complete it?

As ever, I'll try to be in touch as much as possible to answer any questions/ queries that you may have. Any work that you'd like to share can be posted onto Class Dojo for me to have a look at.

All the best,
Mr Charlton

Good morning,
As we sadly continue to be closed whilst works are ongoing in the area, for today's suggested tasks, the children can continue to do the following:
- Reading: at least 30mins of reading at some point over the day.
- Spellings: continue to think of and find words that have the suffix '-ible' or '-ibly'.
- Times-tables: continue to practice the x12s.
- Maths: access Maths Flex to complete 'nuggets'. Alternatively - if your internet access isn't great at the moment - they could practice their multiplication and division methods by creating a list of 3 or 4 digit numbers and then multiply and/ or divide each of them by 12.
- English: use the attached sheet to create varied, persuasive sentences about endangered tigers (this didn't seem to load correctly yesterday; hopefully it works this time).
- Art: research Pop Art and the famous artist Andy Warhol. Can you create an information text about them?

As ever, I'll try to be in touch as much as possible to answer any questions/ queries that you may have. Any work that you'd like to share can be posted onto Class Dojo for me to have a look at.

All the best,
Mr Charlton
