Primary Sports Funding 2017-18
Sport - For further details on how we spend our Primary Sports Funding please see Our School section - information
At Whittingham we are proud of what we have achieved so far having gained the Silver Level Mark accreditation from Sainsbury’s Games and will continue to build our reputation as a school that values sports participation, opportunity and excellence. We promote sportsmanship, teamwork, enjoyment and participation throughout our school and these values are at the core of our ethos for PE and Sport.
At Whittingham we are striving to develop outstanding PE and Sport provision and we see the move from First School to Primary as an exciting opportunity to develop this further. We already use the facilities at Willowburn Sports Centre and are continuing to develop excellent links with local sports clubs and coaches which we plan to develop still further. We have developed a Student Sports Council who meet each term to discuss ways to increase participation and enjoyment in sport throughout our school. This group will be made up of pupils from all year groups and include those who love to take part in school sports and those who are less engaged with sport.
We are also working on an exciting project this year which will benefit the children at our school and the wider community. We have been given £60,000 from our local council to develop a MUGA and a further £10000, alongside money from our PE budget to develop a community use outdoor gym equipment and trim trail. We are working hard fundraising with an aim to build a running track and long jump track and pit.
Funding for the school year has doubled and we are using this to train staff, purchase new resources and enhance our MUGA provision.
