Hedgehog Rescue

Earlier this week some children in class 2 found a hedgehog wandering around the school playground. They knew that hedgehogs should not be out during the day and asked if they could help it. Mrs Kennedy phoned the Hedgehog rescue centre and the lady there told the children what to do. 'Bartholomew', as he is now called, was carefully put into a box with some scrunched up newspaper and put in a warm place until he could be taken to the centre. When he arrived at the centre he was under weight and had intestinal parasites. He is being well looked after and has some medicine to take and has already started putting on weight. Hedgehogs need to be at least 450 g in weight to survive the winter and poor Bartholomew was only 298 g.
